Some of Our Current Residents

Meet our current residents.  These animals live at the facility and are used for educational programs.  They cannot be released dues to various problems.

CAPA AND CORKY are female beavers that make their homes in two 18X20 foot pens surrounded by 6 foot tall chain link fencing.  The pens chain link floor is covered with a thick layer of dirt.  They also enjoy their 600 and 1000 gallon pools.  They also have a large dog igloo, each buried under pine branches creating a natural dome.  Capa was brought to the center four years ago when her mother was found dead.  She is used in schools to teach children about beaver and their importance to our society.  Corky was brought to the center three years ago with a hernia that had to be repaired.  To learn more about beavers contact BWW@Beaversww.org or contact Marti Brinson at (252)524-5305.  She has a comprehensive library on them.  The library includes a photo collection plus every book and pamphlet that she’s been able to find on the care and keeping of beavers.

There are children’s books in the collection also.
